Bernadette Joan Lalgee - Simmonds
September 13, 1951 - September 23, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Bernadette Joan Lalgee- Simmonds, who was called home on September 23, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on September 13, 1951, in Grenville, Grenada, Bernadette was the fifth child of Molly Lalgie and Solomon Henry.
As a young woman, she left Grenada to pursue her education in Trinidad. She later immigrated to the United States, where she made her home.
Throughout her life, her compassion knew no bounds. She was always there to listen, help and offer a comforting presence to those in need. Her kindness touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression that will never fade.
Bernadette loved music and dancing, as socializing was a big part of her life. Her spirit lit up any room she entered with a “HELLO, AH SOOKIE SOOKIE NOW”. She was the life of the party. Her love for music, dancing, and making people smile will remain a cherished memory for all who knew her.
A Homegoing Celebration for Bernadette Joan Lalgee-Simmonds will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at St. Hedwig’s Church beginning at 11:30 am. Viewing will take place prior to the service at Elmont Funeral Home from 8:00 am – 11:00 am.
Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Bernadette’s remarkable life.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
Bernadette’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though she is gone from our sight, she will never be gone from our hearts.
