Bernadette A. McLaughlin of Lansdowne (formerly of Southwest and West Philadelphia) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 26, 2025. Bernadette was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Paul McLaughlin for 47 years. Dear mother, to Timothy (Christina), William (Christine) and the late Megan Rose. Cherished Gram to Payton, Lilly, Declan, and Harper Rose. Survived by sisters Joanna Morrison (John) and Mary Faulkner (Patrick) and brothers Andrew Cook (Megan) and James Cook (Teri). Predeceased by parents Joseph and Margaret, brother Joseph and sisters Penny and Francis. She is also survived by many loving sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many lifelong cherished friends.
Bernadette was born in Philadelphia and attended St. Francis DeSales grade school and West Catholic High School for girls. She met the love of her life Paul in grade school and they spent many happy years together. In the summer she could usually be found at the Jersey Shore surrounded by family and friends, sitting on the beach in the sun and sharing stories and laughs. Bernadette prided herself on staying close with those she loved and knowing all the going ons of her family. She made it a point to check in with everyone. She also cherished the time she spent with her great friends from 48th street and St. Barnabas.
Bernadette was so proud of both of her boys and the families they have made. The love and pride she had for her four grandchildren Payton, Lilly, Declan, and Harper was second to none. She spent her final days seeing all of the many people who loved her and would not have had it any other way. Bernadette will be greatly missed by those that love her but we take comfort in the fact that she has now been reunited with Megan and Paul.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Bernadette’s life on Tuesday July 8th at King Funeral Home, 209 North Newtown Street Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073 beginning at 9:30 am with the Memorial Ceremony starting at 11:30 am.
