Bernadine May McIlnay, 97, of Freeport, passed away, Wednesday September 10, 2025, at Allure of Pinecrest in Mount Morris, IL. Bernadine was born January 14, 1928, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, the daughter of Basil and Cecil M. (Potterville) Davis. She married Donald O. McIlnay on October 8, 1949, in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Mr. McIlnay passed away November 13, 2017. Bernadine was a graduate of Madison General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for over 30 years at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Happy Hatters. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was very active.

Surviving is her son, Donald R. (Cynthia) McIlnay of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Linda McIlnay of Freeport; granddaughter, Jennifer (Adriaan Tigchelaar) McIlnay of Groesbeek, Netherlands; and one step-grandson, Sil Tigchelaar of Groesbeek, Netherlands; 

Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters.

Visitation will be 9:00am – 10:30 am on Tuesday September 16, 2025, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. There will be no funeral services. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo, Wisconsin. A memorial has been established for Serenity Hospice in Bernadine’s memory. Please sign her guestbook and share a memory at www.burketubbs.com.
