Bernard Harvey Bartelt
(AKA Bernie, Uncle Buck)

Bernard "Bernie" Harvey Bartelt entered eternal life on Sunday November 2, 2025, at the age of 87.
Bernie was born and raised in the town of Greenwood, Wisconsin. Bernie enlisted in the United States Army in May 1958, and was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas, He discharged in May 1960, returning to Wisconsin. He met his wife Bernice shorty after she graduated high school, and the two married on September 2, 1961. After marriage, they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then eventually to
New Berlin, Wisconsin, where they raised their three children, and lived for over 50 years.
Devoted father to Brenda (Tracy Lewis), Bert (Lauren), and Brad (Karen Haack). Remarkable grandfather to Justin (Kira Sell), Jennifer (Carson) Henley, Evan (Hannah), Shelly (Nate) Hagen, Bryan (Ashley) Neumann, Colleen (Jon) King and Roman. Revered great-grandfather to Isa and Morgan. Brother of Ethel, Harold, Melvin (Mel), Kennith, Donald, Darlene, and Phillis. Bernie is preceded in death by his parents George and Bertha (Klein) Bartelt, his wife, Bernice, siblings, Ethel, Harold, Melvin, Ken, Donald, Darlene, and Phyllis, and his son-in-law Tracy Lewis. He is survived by Doris and Elaine Bartelt.
Bernie loved spending time up north hunting with his brothers, enjoying time with family; especially his grandchildren, and visiting his favorite taverns. Bernie also relished working with heavy equipment, plowing snow, and using his Kubota whenever he could. He was a member of the Sno-Hawks Snowmobile Club. Bernie adored spending time with his wife, Bernice, and the two loved listening to bands, and dancing to polka music. Bernie will be missed by his close friends for his kindness and generosity, and his family for all the laughs and smiles he provided.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, at BLESSED SAVIOR LUTHERAN CHURCH,15250 W. Cleveland Ave., New Berlin, from 4:00 PM. Service to follow at 6:00 PM.
Bernie will be laid to rest at St. Peter's Church on Hwy C in Medford, Wisconsin on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
