Bernard "Bernie" John Campbell Sr., born on November 9th, 1937, passed away on Monday, May 26th, 2025 at age 87.
He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to James Joseph Campbell Sr. and Kathleen Rose Etta Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Kathleen; brother, James Joseph Campbell Jr.; sister, Mary Elizabeth Miniard.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 66 years, Marquita Maria (Fell) Campbell; sister, Kathleen R. Hamilton of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law, Mary Campbell of Louisville, KY; 6 children, Bernard "Butch" John Campbell Jr. (Twonana) of Goldsboro, NC, Joseph Louis Campbell (Marietta) of Clarksville, TN, Andrew Wayne Campbell of Louisville, KY, Christopher Lee Campbell (Sandra) of Panama City, FL, Jacquetta Marie Kelley (Paul) of Louisville, KY, and Paula Marie Campbell Cowan of Goldsboro, NC; 10 grandchildren, Kristin White (Stan), Kyle Campbell (Fonda), Emily Wolfe (Tristen), Kristopher Campbell (Brittany), Courtney Campbell Plumlee (Casey), Jonathan Kelley, Sebastain Campbell, Matthew Kelley, Shepherd Cowan, and Jasmine Kelley; and 11 great- grandchildren.
He was a Teamster. He worked as a driver Salesman for 30 years having worked for 3 bread companies, Linker Brothers Bakery, Tastee Bread, and retiring from Rainbo Bakery.
He was a resident of Breckenridge County Kentucky and a member of St. Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church, in Hardinsburg, Kentucky.
Bernard's Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 5505 New Cut Rd. with burial to follow in St. Michael Cemetery. His visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m., on Sunday, at Ratterman Southwest Funeral Home, 4832 Cane Run Rd.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in his name to his church: St. Anthony the Abbot, 1654 S. Highway 79, Hardinsburg, KY 40143 or to Hosparus Health Louisville, 6200 Dutchmans Ln., Louisville, KY 40205.
