Bernard Chaney Obituary

On August 3, 2024, Apostle Bernard Chaney peacefully slipped away into the arms of Jesus, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and service. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, First Lady Ladonna Chaney; his mother, Brenda Chaney; his father, Edward McGill; his aunt, Lois McCrae; his uncles, Curtis Eugene McCrae, David McCrae, and Johnny McCrae (Flora); his sisters, Bria McGill (Benjamin) and Kimberly McGill; his brothers, Brian McGill (Kim) and Kristopher McGill; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Andrew Chaney, and his sister, Keisha McGill.
Apostle Bernard Chaney was born on September 15, 1968, to Ms. Brenda Chaney and Mr. Edward McGill in Raeford, NC. From a young age, Bernard demonstrated a strong sense of purpose and commitment to his faith. After graduating from 71st High School in Fayetteville, NC, he proudly joined the United States Navy, where he served his country with honor and dedication. But it was his unwavering love for the Lord that truly defined his life. Apostle Chaney answered the call of God and dedicated himself wholeheartedly to spreading the Gospel, touching countless lives in the process.
As a visionary leader, Apostle Chaney founded The Believers House Worldwide Ministries in Norfolk, VA, a church that became a beacon of hope and faith in the community. His ministry grew, leading him to establish additional branches in Orangeburg, SC, and Fayetteville, NC. Apostle Chaney's influence extended far beyond the walls of the church; he inspired a generation of youth, young adults, and people of all ages through initiatives like the "Praise Party" and The Voice of Believers Christian Academy. His dedication to serving God's people was evident in every endeavor he undertook, and his impact on those who knew him was profound.
Apostle Chaney was a man who wore many hats-he was a devoted husband, a loving son, a spiritual father, a compassionate teacher, a brother, an uncle, and a loyal friend. His heart for service and his deep compassion for others were reflected in one of his favorite sayings: "Don't look down on a person unless you are looking down to pick them up." His life was a testament to this belief, as he consistently uplifted and encouraged those around him. Through his words and actions, Apostle Chaney embodied the love of Christ and demonstrated what it truly means to be a servant of God.
Apostle Chaney's life was a true reflection of his faith, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

Our shared experience is when my husband found out that he was a Cowboy fan. And my husband John is a Raiders fan. We all laughed so hard at both of them talking about their teams. Our condolences and may GOD keep your family close. He will be missed. John and Natasha Thomas Jr.

I learned the importance of having and maintaining your personal relationship with God. Through the years I had an opportunity to know and learn from him. Despite personal struggles, which we all have at some time in our lives, he never stopped striving. He gave himself wholly to those he cared about. He always had a big heart.

My condolences to you First Lady Ladonna and also to Ms Brenda, Ms Lois and Uncle Kurt. Much love and prayers for you and all of the family, natural and spiritual as well as the flock near and far. May the Holy Spirit come alongside you all and comfort your hearts through this challenging time.
Love the Best´s

I have learned to find out God for myself and ask for understanding of Gods word! I also learned to discern the spirits, how to walk in who God has called me to be. Thank you for the positive lessons that i will be able to share with the children of God!
