Bernie Nobis, son of the late Gertrude Ella Handle & Fritz Alfred Nobis was born May 5, 1943 in Dresden, Germany. Bernie spent time in his youth playing on a professional soccer team before his family came to the United States. Bernie also served 4 years in the United States Air Force.
In 1982 Bernie met the love of his life and beloved wife, Jean. Together they shared a life full of family, love and happiness. Bernie spent his time in retirement caring for his yard, his 56 Chevy, his family and attending bible study and his family's events. Bernie was known for his strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for his family and church.
Bernie entered into Heaven on November 13, 2024 at his home in Carter Lake, IA surrounded in love by his family. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Preceded in joining the Lord: mother Gertrude Ella Handle & father Fritz Alfred Nobis.
Survived by: wife Jean Nobis; sons Jerry Peters, Bob (JoEl) Peters, Mike (Kim) Peters; daughters Jeannie Lynn Reisis, Gina Christiansen, Tonya (Randy) Vashon; brother Siegfried (Christine) Nobis; sister Helga (Larry) Roels; grandchildren and great-grandchildren who absolutely adored him and by several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Bernie's life will be held at Parkway Church of God on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Jean Nobis to help with expenses.
