Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc. - Camden on Dec. 16, 2025.
Anthony F. Nobis, known lovingly to friends and family as "Tony," age 64, of Taberg, passed away unexpectedly of a cardiac episode on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at his home.
Tony was born on November 2, 1961, in
Rome, New York, the son of Stanley J. and Carol Ann (Leszczyk) Nobis. Raised on the family farm, Tony learned the value of hard work at an early age-lessons that shaped his life and livelihood. He carried with him a deep pride in his Polish heritage, a strong Catholic faith, and a character defined by kindness, generosity, and a quick wit that could light up any room. Tony had a way of making people feel welcome, often with a well-timed joke or a smile that let you know you were among friends.
He was a 1979 graduate of Camden High School, where he proudly played football and baseball. As an adult, Tony loved a good softball league and could often be found tinkering on projects in his garage, always staying busy and rarely sitting still.
In May of 1991, Tony was united in marriage to Anne G. Hawkes at St. John's Church in Camden. Their union, lasting thirteen years, was filled with love and devotion and blessed with four children, who remained the greatest joy of his life.
Tony was the owner of BNK Trucking in Taberg and proudly served the United States Postal Service. In 2003, he continued his lifelong passion for farming by starting High Meadows Farms. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Taberg and found happiness in simple pleasures-hunting season, snowmobile trips up north for a fish fry, and card nights filled with laughter alongside his close friends Vern Kuc and Raymond Lappin.
Above all else, Tony was a devoted family man. He was happiest when surrounded by his children and grandchildren, sharing stories, laughs, and quiet moments. He passed on the importance of family, kindness toward others, and living each day fully and honestly.
Tony is survived by his four children, Kelsey Nobis, Stanley Nobis (Felicia Follmer), Tyler Nobis, and Kerry (Derek) Hawkins; and his three grandchildren, Kali Kosakowski, Lincoln Hawkins, and Hadlee Hawkins. He is also survived by his sister, Christine (John) Plumley; his nieces and nephews, Casey (Jan) Okusko, Jacob Plumley, Megan (Justin) Pfeifer, and Clair (Aaron) Pfeifer; along with their children, all of Taberg.
Tony was predeceased by his parents, Stanley J. Nobis, who passed on October 4, 2024, and Carol Ann Nobis, who passed on August 5, 2018.
Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13,
Camden, NY 13316, on Friday, December 19th, from 4-7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 20th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Taberg with Rev. Francis Wapan officiating. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tony's memory to the Taberg Volunteer Fire Department or the Meeker-O'Rourke Post 1309 American Legion, 9275 Main Street,
