Lynette W. Rood
July 30, 1944 ~ February 5, 2026
Lynette W. Rood, 81, of Camden, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Abraham House in Rome, NY, with her loving husband by her side. Lynette and Ed were high school sweethearts and were married 59 years.
Lynette was born on July 30, 1944, in Oneida, NY, daughter of the late Wallace and Arlene Kent Wolcott. She graduated from Camden High School in 1962. Lynette worked as a legal secretary for Harold Massey for 35 years and then worked as a secretary at Camden High School.
Lynette was an active member in the United Methodist Church of Camden, member of the Monday night ladies golf league at McConnellsville Country Club, the Queen Village Stamp Club and bowling league.
Lynette loved her family and her grandchildren most of all. Her second love was shopping. She also loved traveling, especially to Disney World, as well as two exceptional trips to Hawaii and several months each winter by the ocean in Garden City, SC. She also loved country western concerts and SU Football and Basketball, where she and Edward were season ticket holders for many years.
Lynette is predeceased by her parents, Wallace and Arlene Kent Wolcott; and her father and mother-in-law, S.Willard and Florence Rood.
Lynette is survived by her loving husband, Edward Rood; children, Amy Rood Skumurski and her husband, Mark Skumurski and Kimberly Rood Ruggieri; grandchildren, Bryn and Michael Ruggieri; brother and sister-in-law, David and Kathleen Wolcott; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
The family is especially grateful for the loving companionship of Doreen T. and Donna B. over the past year.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, 109 Main St., Camden. Relatives and friends are invited to calling from 1 - 3 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service. Spring burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Camden.
In lieu of flowers, donations, in Lynette's name, may be made to the United Methodist Church of Camden, Hospice and Palliative Care or Abraham House in Rome, NY.

Ed and Family,
I don't think there is much I can say to ease your sorrow but I want you to know that I bear some sorrow along with you at the loss of a classmate and good friend. I have many fond memories of high school days with Lynette and our CCS Class of 1962. In later years and more recently came our beautifully enjoyable class reunions for which Lynette was so instrumental in arranging so that classmates could refresh friendships and revive, if briefly, the spirit of our high school experiences. Please accept my most sincere sympathy.
