January 24, 1927 - February 1, 2025
Bernice A. Baasch, 98, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at her winter residence in Tucson, Arizona.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Cairo United Methodist Church with pastor Kalaba Kapundu officiating. Burial will take place in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 16th, at the church. In lieu of flowers, Bernice requested donations be made to the Cairo Roots Society or the Cairo United Methodist church.
She was born on January 24, 1927, in Cairo, Nebraska, to Otto and Dora (Kroeger) Schultz. She grew up in Cairo and graduated from Cairo High School in 1943.
She was united in marriage to Edwin Baasch, December 30, 1949, at her parents home in Cairo. The couple made their home in Cairo where she helped Eddie run Baasch & Sons Welding. They lived in Cairo for 87 years before moving to Grand Island.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Dora Schultz; and husband, Edwin, to whom she was married for 66 years.
She is survived by her son, Bruce and his wife, Jo Ann.
