GARDNER -- Bernice "Bernie" A. Lemay, 73, of Gardner, died suddenly Friday, October 24, 2025, at Heywood Hospital. She is pre-deceased in death by her beloved husband Leland A. Lowe III, her sister Janet McGee and her parents Roland and Bernice.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Weaver and his wife, Aisha of Manchester, NH; grandchildren, Olivia, Matthew, Anthony and Adrianna. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and close friends.
Born in Clinton, daughter of Roland P. and Bernice H. (Kovac) Lemay, she was raised there and in Lancaster. She was a 1970 graduate of Nashoba Regional High School, a talented member of the NRHS Majorettes. She would later go on to graduate from Fitchburg State College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. A devoted registered nurse, she specialized for many years working with chronic dialysis patients, with whom she cared for with the utmost respect and dignity.
Over the years she lived in various Massachusetts communities including Lancaster, Lunenburg, Gardner and Cape Cod. A woman of great faith, she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, and when she couldn't physically attend mass, she would watch it in her living room so that she would never miss a service. Above all, Bernie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; what she loved more than anything was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Clinton, will be celebrated on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11AM, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery. Online condolences may be placed at www.philbincomeaufh.com
