Mr. Bernice Dale Rorrer, age 81 of Bassett, VA passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at SOVAH Martinsville Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 8, 1944, in Patrick County to Coy Allen Rorrer and Maude Belcher Rorrer. In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by two sisters, Delcie Rorrer Belcher, and Hollis Rorrer Fain; four brothers, Allen Rorrer, Melvin Rorrer, Marvin Rorrer, and Donnie Rorrer; three sisters-in-laws, Annie Rorrer, Paunee Rorrer, Christine Rorrer and Ruby Rorrer; four brothers-in-law, Amos “Bud” Belcher, Howard Fain, Herman Fain, and Hubert Lyon.
Bernice honorably served in the U.S. Army. After his service to our nation, he began working at Liberty Fabrics, where he later retired after over 40 years of service. Throughout his life, Bernice enjoyed beach trips with his family and listening to bluegrass gospel music. He was especially proud to continue the tradition of making the Rorrer Family Apple Butter. He loved gardening and raising flowers and was always sharing what he raised with others. Bernice always had a deep love for his family, but most importantly a strong faith and love for his Lord.
Bernice is survived by a daughter, Wanda Rorrer Dulaney (Jamie); two granddaughters, JLyn Dulaney and Kerri Rakes (Ethan Hughes); one grandson, Austin Rakes; one step-grandson, Dillon Dulaney; two great grandchildren, Eli Hughes, and Jackson Hughes; two sisters, Evadell Rorrer Lyon, and Linda Rorrer Fain; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Mr. Rorrer will be he held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Chapel with Elder John Funk officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Conners View Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, in Meadows of Dan, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Conners View Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Barry Fain, 459 Woodland Drive, Stuart, VA 24171.
