Bernice Aaron "Bunt" Townsend

Mrs. Bernice "Bunt" Aaron Townsend, age 90, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026 at her residence.

Mrs. Townsend was born on February 9, 1936, in Dahlonega, Georgia, to the late Irvin and Gertrude Bradley Aaron. She was a faithful and devoted member of Crossroads Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. Bernice was known for her kind heart, strong faith, and deep love for her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Horace Junior Townsend; her daughter, Betty Bolinger; sisters, Elizabeth Itner, Dorothy Lawson, Brenda Goss, and Barbara Dotson; and brothers, Alfred Aaron, Richard Aaron, and Johnny Aaron.

Bernice leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her daughters, Evonne Blalock of Opelika, Alabama; Vickie Kerr and husband Rev. Eddie Kerr of Ellijay, Georgia; and Renee Hensley and husband Stephen Hensley of Ellijay, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Bagley of Murrayville, Georgia; brother, Junior Aaron of Canton, Georgia; along with several nieces, nephews, and many friends and extended family who loved her dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 9th, 2026 at 2:00pm from the Crossroads Baptist Church with Rev. James Sevcech, Rev. Jamie Kerr, Rev. Eddie Kerr, Rev. Josh Green officiating. Special music will be provided by Bernice's family.

Interment will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Brandon Kerr, Jamie Kerr, Andrew Bolinger, and Brad Shope. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Sanford, Clayton Wilson, Joshua Payne, William Townsend, and Junior Aaron.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday March 8th at the Logan Funeral Home.
