Bert F. Butts, 88, husband of Shelby Jean Hancox Butts, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

A native of Westminster, Mr. Butts was the son of the late Ira Jacob Butts and Agnes Chester Davis Butts. Mr. Butts was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 25th Infantry Division in the South Pacific Theater. He later completed his military service while stationed at Fort Story, Virginia. He was a retired home builder and machinist and was a member of Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge #92 and the Walhalla American Legion Post #124. He was blessed with a beautiful baritone voice and he loved to serenade his family and friends with his guitar. He was fortunate to have two country songs published.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Butts is survived by his son: Chet Butts of Westminster; daughters: Tammy Morton Webb (Cecil) of Charleston, and Angela Butts of Westminster; step-daughter: Tammy Brown of Toccoa, GA; sister: Margie Lee of Westminster; grandchildren: Micki Morton Sloan (Andrew) of Summerville, Trip Morton (Anna) of Simpsonville, Cayden Webb, and William Webb both of Charleston; and great-grandchildren: Hunter Morton, Naomi Morton, Brayden Sloan, McKenna Sloan, and Dalton Sloan.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Butts was preceded in death by his siblings: Jake Butts, Lem Butts, Clem Butts, Norie Shedd, Nora Butts, Louise Powell, Lewis Butts, John Henry Butts, Carlie Butts, Willie Butts, and Odis Butts, as well as his beloved twin sister: Frances Simmons.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with masonic rites and military honors to be conducted at the grave.

The family will receive friends 12:00 PM-1:00 PM, prior to the graveside, on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Davenport Funeral Home.

Flowers are accepted.

The family is at their respective homes.
