Berta Young

Our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Friend, Berta Young, age 90, of West Valley City, Utah passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in the home of Daughter Melissa’s house.

She was born October 29, 1933, in Tridell, Utah to Milton and Della Wooley in a small farmhouse. She married Clyde McCurdy on October 8th, 1953, in SLC, Utah, they then had 6 children together (3 boys, 3 girls) and later divorced. Berta loved to be outside in her yard doing yardwork and gardening. She also loved to quilt, bake, cook and watch her soap operas. She loved being surrounded by all her Grandchildren, Family and Friends. Berta will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

She is survived by her children Stewart McCurdy, Melissa Stapley, Sister Eileen Yano, Grandchildren -Todd Stephens (Holly), Rick McCurdy (Heather), Chasity McCurdy, Randal McCurdy, Stephanie Stephens, Clyde McCurdy, Keith McCurdy, Jeff Stephens (Kayla) Luke McCurdy (Kayla), Tyci McCurdy (Carlos), Britny McCurdy, Tristia Langarica (Josh), Tiffany McCurdy (Jeremiah), Marissa Laumua (Jordon), 28 Great-Grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Mother Della Wooley, Father Milton Wooley, 2 Brothers, 3 Sisters, Daughters Marlene (Maggie) Wilson and Lanette Compton, Sons, Dale and Steven McCurdy, and Grandson Stevie McCurdy.

Funeral services will be held Friday March 29th, 2024, at 11:00am at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Rd. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the mortuary and one hour prior to services. Luncheon to follow interment for family and close friends at Jordan View Ward, 2320 South 1165 West, West Valley City, Utah 84119.
