Bertha Malone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James & Gahr Mortuary - Salem on Nov. 19, 2024.
Bertha W. Malone, 90, of Salem, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla, Missouri.
Bertha was born on July 28, 1934, in Doss, Missouri, to the late Elisha and Emma (Snider) Brooks. She married Charles Malone on August 23, 1952, and their loving union was blessed with three sons and an adopted daughter. Together, they built a life of love and hard work.
Bertha was a sewing machine operator at the International Shoe Company until its closure and later worked for Hagale. Her industrious spirit extended to the family farm outside Salem, where she took pride in tending her garden and preserving its bounty through canning. Summers were filled with the fruits of her labor, ensuring her family enjoyed fresh vegetables year-round.
A talented crocheter and an avid puzzle enthusiast, Bertha found joy in simple pleasures like watching TV and taking daily walks to the mailbox. Above all, she cherished her family and treasured time spent together.
Bertha is survived by her children: Robert Malone of Salem, MO; Larry Malone and wife Kim of Salem, MO; and Michelle Tiefenthaler; her grandchildren: Calvin Malone, Katie Malone, Kary Malone, Katherine Malone, Kourt Tiefenthaler, Thaddeus Boxx, Atley Boxx, Lonnie Irvin; her great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Malone; her son, Charles Malone; her parents, Elisha and Emma Brooks; her brother, Paul Brooks; and her sisters, Elizabeth, Esther, Margaret, Mildred, Virginia, and Ellen.
A funeral service honoring Bertha's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary, officiated by Pastor Frank Brooks. Interment will follow at North Lawn Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at the Salem Chapel on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
