Bertha Louise (Bertie Carlson) Reynolds was the 4th child born to Edwin and Ferne (Hoffman) Carlson on April 30, 1946. She had 3 older brothers and 4 younger. She passed away on October 2, 2025, at Rooks County Health Center, Plainville, Kansas. Bertie was united in marriage to Rex A. Reynolds on July 29, 1967, in the Methodist Church in Ellinwood, Kansas. They established their first home in McPherson. During this union, she worked at many jobs in the city. She worked for Swick-Guth, Farmer's Alliance, Alliance Life, Paul Jennings, and Troy Wiens, to name just a few. She also belonged to several organizations during her younger years: VFW Auxiliary, Jaycee Janes, WIBS Bowling Association, and Order of Eastern Star (30+ years). She bowled on as many as 3 leagues a year. Later in life, she took up golf and just fell in love with the game until illness brought that game to a halt. She also had to give up bowling. She suffered several issues in her life, but the biggest was surviving cancer since 1999. In 1987, she and her husband adopted a young man, and it was the best decision they made. He had been there through all the difficulties she had endured. She had a total of 3 children; her youngest, Alan, was killed in an auto accident in 1994. She is survived by her children, her daughter, Shelley Reynolds and her son, Glenn (Angela) Reynolds; grandchildren, Travis (Lorisa) Fast, Kaitlynn Fast, Bianca Reynolds, Rexanne McRoberts, Sabrina Reynolds, Benjamin Reynolds, Elizabeth Reynolds and Victoria (Drew) Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Audreanna Fast, Kloie Neff, Kayzie Fast, Brayden Horn, Maverick Reynolds-Garcia, Mykah Atkinson, Nelson McRoberts, DaniJo Ebert, Sonnie Reynolds, Emma Collins, Noah Collins, Axel Collins and O'Ryan McRoberts; brothers, Charles (Cecile) Carlson and Lawrence (Tami) Carlson. She is also survived by her caregiver, Regan Van Pelt, other relatives and a host of friends. Bertie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rex, of 30 years of marriage, her son, Alan; her in-laws, Randal and Edna Reynolds, and her brothers, Ernest, John, Harold Lee, Donald, and Ronald. Visitation will be 6- 8 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2025, at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Little River First United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Bean Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Bertie requests memorials to Little River First United Methodist Church or Relay For Life and can be sent to Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, KS 67460.
