Bertha Willoughby Obituary

Bertha Marie Willoughby, born on May 23, 1933, in the small town of Verona, Kentucky, departed this world peacefully at her home in Burlington, Kentucky, on December 28, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. Known for her vibrant spirit, Bertha was truly a social butterfly, effortlessly making friends wherever she went. Her warmth and charisma touched the lives of many, creating connections that spanned generations.

A devoted member of Bullittsville Christian Church, Bertha found profound joy in both her faith and her community. She was an esteemed member of the Boone County Homemaker's Association, where her talents as a homemaker shined brightly. Bertha dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, always striving to create a warm and loving home for her loved ones. Her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her family, whom she cherished deeply.

Bertha leaves behind her beloved husband of 67 years, Marion Willoughby, who stood by her side through every season of life. She is also survived by her son, Jerry (Missy) Willoughby, who brought her immense pride and joy. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Joshua Willoughby, Jennifer (James) Grubbs, JJ Willoughby, and Justin (Danielle) Justice. Each of them carries forward the love and values she instilled in them. Additionally, her great-grandchildren, Jinks Willoughby, Zeke Willoughby, and Hunter Grubbs, brought her endless delight in her later years. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Kelly Willoughby.

Bertha’s passing leaves a void that echoes through her family and the many friends whose lives she enriched. Remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and her steadfast love, Bertha’s spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. She joins her beloved parents, Kurt Sturgeon and Maggie Sturgeon (née Middleton), and her late son, Everett "Jinks" Lee Willoughby, in eternal rest.

As we remember Bertha Marie Willoughby, we hold close the memories of her vibrant life, her compassion, and her unwavering dedication to family and friends. She may have departed from this earthly realm, but her spirit will live on in the love she shared and the lives she touched.
