Mrs. Bertie Hall Gouge, formerly of Nebo, NC, died in Christ in her 92nd year of age on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in Salem, VA. Bertie was born in Ligon, KY, on September 2, 1933, to the late Bill and Ida Hall. Until their respective deaths, she had been married to Darwin Hall, who was the father of both of her children, and then Lloyd Gouge. One of seven children, she was a devoted daughter who loved her brothers and sisters greatly. A good homemaker and marvelously skilled seamstress, she was also fond of cooking and gardening. For many years, she worked in the Floyd County, KY, and Brevard County, FL, courthouses. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, as well as the members of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she had faithfully worshiped for many years before moving to Virginia.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Sandra Hall Budziszewski and Sherry Hall Boothe; her son in law, J. Budziszewski; her grandchildren, Anastasia Budziszewski Colombo, Alexandra Hall Russo, Nichole Murray Saphore, Heath Murray, Sidney Cline, and Casey Keathley Michalovic; thirteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and her surviving brothers and sisters, Verlie Hall Soehnge, Geraldine Hall Conn, Barbara Hall, and Jimmie Hall.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church in Morganton, NC, with the Rev. Danny Emory officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Those wishing to send flowers, or to make a memorial donation, may send them to Hopewell Baptist Church, 1112 Hopewell Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
