Richard Francis Federici, 73, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on November 9, 2025.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 2, 1952, Richard was the eldest child of the late Francesco Raymond Federici and Marie Grace (neé Gagliano) Federici.
A retired postal clerk, Richard was a life-long Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Dodgers fan - the latter dating back to the team's origins as the Brooklyn Dodgers. Additionally, Richard maintained an interest in the American Civil War, the life of General George Armstrong Custer, and the Battle of Little Big Horn. All of these passions, from Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach's '69 kick-off to the 1941 Custer film "They Died With Their Boots On" were inspired and shared by Richard's father Frank, reflecting the bonds and impressions passed along from father to son.
Additionally, Richard remained an enthusiastic fan of The Grateful Dead throughout the decades; an appreciation which was reflected in the music of Cottonwood Sage, a local band formed by Richard, his brother Ronnie, and close neighborhood friends.
Richard is survived by wife Elaine Rosanne (neé Masotti) Federici, children Jesse Francis (Michelle), Adam Domenick (Jessica), Christopher Richard (Sanaa), Miriam Therèse Mitchell (Jacob), Elizabeth Lucia McDowell (Shawn), Olivia Yvonne Minder (Ian), Daniel Joseph, Isabella Caterina, Michael Andrè, Sophia Rosamaria, brother Ronald Edward Federici (Catherine), sister Kathryn Ann Herman (Alan), fourteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private viewing and liturgical prayers will be held on November 17, 2025 followed by interment at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale, New York.
2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC 28752
