Bertie Irene Hopper

Bertie Irene Hopper, age 88, of Early, passed away on October 13, 2025. The family will host a memorial service at Indian Gap Cemetery on November 8, at 2:00PM. Bertie was born on February 11, 1937, in Coleman, to Bert and Mary (Harris) Mayfield. Bertie went to school in Pottsville, and met and married Weldon Hopper in 1951. Bertie farmed and ranched for 30 years until she moved to Early in 1994. She worked at Walmart, Howard Payne, Care Nursing and Rehab, and at Early Elementary as a cross-walk guard. Bertie also attended Early First Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and working in her yard. Bertie loved her family, animals, and her numerous friends and great neighbors. Bertie is survived by her sons, Don Hopper and wife Linda, and Doug Hopper and Tonya; 5 grandchildren, Cortney Hopper, Alan Hopper and wife Sharon, Dayberly Spray and husband Terry, Brian Hopper, and Tiffany Benson; granddaughter in-law, Lori Hopper; 7 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon Hopper, her parents, and sister, Margaret Bedell. She also preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles.
