On Monday, March,25, 1929, in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands Beryl Belrita Harrigan was the 5th child born to the late Moses Harrigan and late Rosalia Veronica Powell-Harrigan.
Beryl's migration story began when she relocated to the Bronx, NY to live with her eldest sister. Beryl met her future husband Thomas Pettway while she worked at a zipper factory in Brooklyn NY. Beryl had five children Denise, Charles (Deceased), Debra (Deceased), Michael and Michelle. After all her children left the nest, she worked for over a decade as a Dietary Aide at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. Beryl was known for her straightforward approach to life, expressing her mind, loved crocheting, sewing, doing jigsaw puzzles, and caring for her plants, which she preferred to receive over flowers. She is predeceased by 4 brothers, 1 sister, Thomas Pettway(Husband),Charles Pettway(son), Debra Pettway Oliver(Daughter), Kevin, Terrence, Jacquiem & Carmine (grandchildren), Amyas, Isaiah & LaShaunta(great grand children).
Beryl is survived by her sister Joyce, daughter Denise (Drayton),Son Michael (life partner Pam), daughter Michelle (Jacques), along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
