Bessie Mae Hamilton Davis, 81, entered her earthy presence on August 10, 1943, in Rutherford
County, NC, to the late John Shag Hamilton and Bessie Kate Cash. She transitioned into eternal
life on April 28, 2025.
Mother Davis attended Rutherford County Schools and worked many years in the healthcare
field retiring as a certified nursing assistant. In this capacity, she followed her heart as a
dedicated helper and often led by example. She had a strong work ethic and displayed her love
for all those she came into contact always putting the needs of others before her own in keeping
with lessons taught by her late mother – service to others.
Mother Davis truly loved the Lord Jesus and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church,
in Rutherfordton, NC. She spent many years in the adult choir as co-choir president and vocal
leader. Just to see her sing for the Lord, viewing the joy of singing to our Savior provided a
vision of her total adoration for our King. To witness her singing and animation on display was
something visually remarkable, often led others to join and admire.
Her personality was pleasing, her smile was contagious, and she always had great memories of
faith and family. Mother Davis loved life to the fullest with endless times spent with family was
her immeasurable joy. One of her greatest pleasures of family was her love of cooking and
savoring meals with her family; something Mother Davis looked forward to until her health
would no longer allow. The Thanksgiving meals, when we'd gather and recall fond memories
and profess our thanks to our Lord Jesus; Christmas gatherings, favor to see her 'bless the Lord
at all times' will surely be missed! But her first love, the one thing that she dedicated each day
to, was her love of Jesus Christ.
And oh, she loves Westerns! Her fav Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith Show, and daytime soaps!
Mother Davis was preceded in death in addition to parents, late husband, Franklin Davis, Sr.,
daughter, Farie K. Hamilton, brothers James Edward, Kenneth, and William Arthur Hamilton,
sisters, Brenda and Shirley Hamilton, stepchildren, Donald, Shena and Shirley Davis.
Mother Davis leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Charlene Miller (Kevin), of
Rutherfordton, NC, son, Min. James Arthur Hamilton (Pamela), of Rutherfordton, NC, sister,
Jean M. Jones, of Forest City, NC, sister-in-law Annie B. Hamilton, of Monroe, La, stepchildren,
Franklin Davis, Jr., Ronald Davis, Ray Davis, Bill Davis, Maria Davis, and Stacy Murray. A
host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Thanks to Godly women and great
friends Mae Littlejohn, Ann Cash, and Earlene Stroud.
