Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, and friend, Bethany Kay Elliott Sell passed away Sunday Sept. 17, 2023 after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.
Bethany Kay Elliott was born March 11, 1983 in
Sandy, Utah, to Mark and Shawna Elliott. She spent her first three years of life in Augsburg, Germany with her family, because her dad was in military intelligence.
Bethany started school in Calvin Smith elementary,in Utah, where she was in the gifted/ talented program, and graduated from Grantsville high school with honors, several years and several moves later. She had a very bright, inquiring mind, and loved to learn. Bethany went to BYUI in Idaho, where she graduated with an associate degree in Journalism.
Nineteen years ago, in Sept. Bethany met and fell in love with John Emery Sell. They were married March 18, 2005 in Salt Lake City, where they first lived. They have since lived in Indiana and Nevada. Bethany loved to travel to different places and went on at least 10 cruises.
Soon, Bethany and John were excitedly expecting their daughter Annie Elizabeth Sell. Unfortunately she passed away, leaving them heartbroken. Elizabeth's death impacted Bethany so much that she decided to reach out to others who had lost children. She joined a group called: "Now I lay me down to sleep", consisting of mothers who lost babies. Bethany volunteered for them for the rest of her life. She put together memory care kits, and took pictures of the babies for keepsakes for the mothers.
Bethany decided she wanted to do photography, so she did, for over 10 years She shot over 100 weddings, and captured numerous other occasions. Bethany loved nature and had an eye for beauty. Bethany was also a fashion designer, designing and sewing 1800- period clothing. Her designs were modeled on the runway at a fashion show in SLC. Later, she became a model, appearing in several magazines. After Bethany was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, she became a cancer patient advocate, also, and was featured in the cancer magazine.
Bethany was a warrior who believed in fighting for a cause, which she did! Her greatest desire and life's goal was to help others heal. She blogged, produced videos, and reached out to many through the apps she created. She will be greatly missed by many people.
