         BETTE LOU HURFORD

Bette Lou (Bond) Hurford, 82, of Cass City, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 in Winter Village of Frankenmuth. She was born on February 9, 1943, in Cass City to Charles and Clara (Decker) Bond. She married Peter Lynn Hurford on February 6, 1965, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.

Bette Lou graduated from Cass City High School in 1961. After graduation, she attended Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She began her career at Hills and Dales General Hospital in Cass City and then took a position at Provincial House Nursing Home in Cass City when they opened in 1973. While there, she was promoted to Director of Nursing responsible for the 24-hour supervision of the nursing department of the 117-bed extended care facility. In 1989, Bette Lou and Lynn decided to move to Florida where she also worked as a nurse until moving back to Michigan in 2001. At that time, she worked as a nurse at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint and was also a Legal Nurse Consultant.

Bette Lou and Lynn attended the Cass City United Methodist Church and, more recently, the Caro Baptist Church. When the time came where they could no longer leave the house to attend church, they watched the service on television. Bette Lou loved crafts and could often be found sewing or quilting. She enjoyed camping with her family and was always there to help someone in need. She and her husband traveled to Texas for several years where they spent the winters.

Bette Lou is survived by her loving husband, Lynn; her beloved children Christopher Scott (Kelly) Hurford and Debbie Seibel; grandchildren David (Katie) Seibel, Grant (Emma) Hurford, Jenilee (Ashton) McCombs and Rebekah (Brandon) Warren; great grandchildren Emmett, Ellery and Nathan; sisters Karen Ann (Robert) Damm and Susan Rubey; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased in death by her parents, Charles and Clara Bond; granddaughter, Cayla Hurford; brothers-in- law: William Murphy and Chuck Rubey.
