Bette Larson Obituary

Visit the Mueller Memorial - White Bear Lake website to view the full obituary.

Bette Larson, 88, of Shoreview, passed away on February 28, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bruce, her parents, Warren and Thelma Bieber, sister Suzy (Wayne) Wirkkula, brother John (Verla) Bieber; in-law's, Don and Laura Larson; and grandson, Cody Larson-Brown. She is survived by her children, Pam (Mike Sattler) Larson and Thor (Maria Brown) Larson, granddaughter Bethany (Brennen) Wonka and great-grandson Rylan (Cody Larson-Brown & Andrea Hedberg) Larson.

Bette was born in Seattle, Washington on September 11, 1937 to Warren and Thelma Bieber where they lived in the suburb of Edmonds. Her family moved to the Bieber family farm in Reinbeck, Iowa in the early 1940's where she grew up surrounded by the farming life. Bette graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1955 and went on to earn a BA in Home Economics from Iowa State University. Bette worked for the Extension Service in Fairmont, Minnesota and at Pehrson Lodge on Lake Vermillion before marrying Bruce in 1964 and settling in Shoreview, Minnesota to raise their family.

Bette enjoyed the solitude surrounding their home on Turtle Lake where she was an avid gardener. She loved being out in nature and was quick to identify plants and birds. Hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, water skiing, canoeing, and kayaking were some of her favorite outdoor activities. Spending time together on the lake, up at the cabin, and on the North Shore were traditions we all looked forward to.

Bette enjoyed being a part of a variety of different groups, including the G-2ers, League of Women Voters, book club, and yoga. She looked forward to fellowship at Peace United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 60 years.

Bette was young at heart, waking every morning with gratitude and appreciation for the day. She will be greatly missed.
