Bettie Lou pulcher passed Saturday, Febuary 12, 2022 at the age of 82 in Southlake, Texas. She was born June 18, 1939 in Marshall, Texas along with fraternal twin Bennie Lee to W.B. Smith and Ethal Lee Walls. A lifelong pianist, Bettie's a member and attended Port Caddo Baptist Church until she moved to Dallas, Texas in her twenties.
She eventually went to a dance where the piano player, Ronald "Butch" Pulcher thought she looked kinda cute and as they say, the rest is history. Butch and Bettie were married on August 31, 1963 and moved to Longview in 1964 to raise a family. Bettie was a member of Valley View Baptist church where she also played the piano on occasion for the services.
During her 35 years in insurance, she spent the majority of her career working for Northcutt Insurance and then later with Gans & Smith Insurance. She was a member of the Insurance Women of Gregg County where served as President and was voted Insurance Women of the year. Never one to shy away from an endeavor, Bettie served with the Citizens on Patrol around her neighborhood which will never be the same after her time on patrol. In 2006, she moved from Longview and into a house with her daughter to be closer to her family. Upon moving she became an active member with Shady Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and praising Jesus.
Butch passed on May 13th, 1999, but she always rounded up and insists that there were married for the entire 36 years.
Mrs. Pulcher is survived by son and his wife, Harold and Debbie Pulcher, son Ron Pulcher, daughter Sherry Pulcher, as well as a number of dogs and cats which were also part of the family. Bettie is also survived by her brother Frank Smith and many nieces and nephews.
