Life Reflections "Mrs. Bettie"
Bettie A. Stuart was born December 12, 1936, to the union of Willie St Clair and Rosie St Clair in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the fourth child of seven living siblings. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie St Clair, Sr.; her mother, Rev. Rosie St Clair Payne; her husband,Randall Stuart Sr.; her brothers: Oneal St Clair (at birth), Rufus St Clair, Willie St Clair, Jr. and George St Clair; her sister, Delores McKinney; her daughter, Marilyn Stuart-Overall; a niece, Ramona McKinney; a nephew, Terry Clark;
a Great Grandson, Tyrone Lamont Stuart Jr.; a great granddaughter, Tierra Stuart; and a special friend, Charles Williams, Jr.
On June 6, 1954, Bettie married the love of her life, Randall Stuart Sr. and to that union four children were born: Randall Stuart Jr., Rodney Stuart, Marilyn Stuart, and Michael Stuart. Later Bettie met Charles Williams Jr., and Renita Stuart and Cheryl Stuart were born. Bettie enjoyed life. She loved her family and God blessed her with a loving Church family.
Bettie was educated in the Kansas City, Kansas School District. She later attended Nursing School and became a License Practical Nurse (LPN) as she liked to joke and say, "Low Paid Nurse". Bettie was a hard worker. She worked several jobs before she became a LPN. She was employed by Menorah Medical Center and Baptist Medical Center until she retired in 2005.
However, Bettie's most rewarding job was serving the members of Grant Chapel AME Church in KCK as the Church Nurse and would remind us that "Jesus paid it all". Ms. Bettie served and as "Nurse Bettie" at Vacation Bible School, Annual Conference and wherever a traveling nurse was needed.
Bettie accepted Christ at an early aged and was a life-long member of Grant Chapel AME Church until her passing.
She enjoyed praising God and serving in the field of missions. Bettie was a faithful choir member who matriculated from the Angel Choir to the Adult Choir and, on to the Senior Choir. Up until her final days she became the only Senior Choir member singing, (the Sr. Choir Soloist".
Ms. Bettie served as the Sunday School Secretary never failing to give us the "weather report" followed by the roll. When reporting, she would call each person by your full government name, plus their married name! She took pride in her position as the Head Stewardess. She was faithful to her call and proudly served throughout the Midwest Conference and beyond, whenever the invitation to Christian
Discipleship was extended, Ms. Bettie was there. She also served as a Communion Stewardess for the Midwest Annual Conference along with her daughters. She served as Worship Director for Church Women United andreceived the Valiant Woman Recognition for her dedicated service. Ms. Bettie served as a member of the Midwest Conference Women's Missionary Society "WMS" were she was pinned and inducted into the Cleo B. Love Hall of Fame. She was a member of the Kansas/ Nebraska Conference, Jamesina Evans Area WMS where she served as the Worship Director. She was a member of the Mattie B. Williams WMS and served two quadrennials as local President and later named President-Emeritus until receiving her final reward.
On November 17, 2024, Bettie departed this life at home with her daughters, Renita and Cheryl.
Bettie leaves to cherish her memory five children: Randall Stuart Jr., Rodney Stuart Sr. (Arletha), Michael Stuart (Rachel), Renita Stuart-Blackburn, and Cheryl Stuart-Thornton; one sister, Rev. Margaret Banks, one brother, Rev. Melvin Moody (Cynthia), a bonus son, Johnny McClenton I (Gail), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, 11am at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation from 10am-11am at the chapel. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
