Betty Bartholemew, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the age of 73. She was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Betty was a retired chef, who had a passion for cooking and was known for her delicious gumbo. A dish she took pride in preparing for family gatherings and holidays. She loved to dance and always had a joyful spirit, embracing life with laughter, rhythm, and love. She faced challenges with resilience, embraced life’s blessings with gratitude, and brought happiness to all who knew her. Beloved wife of the late Chester Bartholomew. Devoted mother of Lavonzell Bartholemew, Shelita (Benjamin) White, Sabrina Bartholomew, Sherry (Gregory) McClay, Frank Bartholomew, and the late Chester Barabino. Daughter of the late Edgar and Beaulah Barabino. Loving sister of Beverly (Eric) Decuir, Larry (Marilyn) Barabino, Marshall (Hazel) Barabino, Kevin Barabino, and the late Catherine, Edgar, and Wilbert Barabino. Niece of Susanne Duchamp. Sister-in-law of Zemena Barabino. Also cherishing her memories are 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, her godson Abriel Sudds, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Pentecost Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Pentecost Baptist Church, 1510 Harrison Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 11:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church.
