Betty Jean Bell Duncan went to be with her Lord and her beloved husband, Hugh Franklin Duncan, on the morning of November 25, 2025 at her home surrounded by her son and daughter. She was born August 12, 1937 to Nancy Thrasher and Willard Bell in Starkville, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Larry and David Bell and sister, Patricia Bell Clendinin.
She is survived by her sister, Donna Bell Huff, daughter, Denice (Andrew) Miller, son, Mark Duncan, grandchildren, Jarrad Wolfe (Heather), Zachary and Jonathan Miller, and Whitney (Chase) Wofford, great grandchild, Noah Wolfe, and great-great grandchild, Corbin Wofford, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Betty was a member of Starkville Church of God. She loved her Lord and sang in the church choir for many years. She was a bookkeeper and office manager for Arnold Industries and Herschede Hall Clock Company where a mantel clock, the Lady Duncan, was named in her honor. Prior to that she worked for Mississippi State University. Many may remember her as a ticket taker, after her retirement, along with her mother and daddy at Dudy Noble Field. She loved the Lord, her husband, her family, and baseball.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, with the service immediately following. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Starkville.
