Betty L. Boyd

Betty L. Boyd, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. Born September 21, 1932, in Lima, OH, the daughter of Dallas and Juanita (Felver) Aller, and a graduate of Lima South High School. Betty married Gerald "Gene" Boyd on June 6, 1952. She worked as a bank teller, then as a secretary at the University of Miami in Oxford, OH, and finally as a secretary at the University of Cincinnati's Cardiology Department while Gene was in medical school, ensuring that they wouldn't have any debt upon his graduation.
Betty was a member of her local book club and Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she participated in Bible study. She was known for her profound devotion to her family and her unwavering faith, which guided every chapter of her life. She embodied a quiet gentleness that touched everyone around her. Betty's boundless kindness and her cheerful voice will be deeply missed.
Survived by her husband, Gerald; children, Julie (Mike) Fliss, Lisa (Jamie) Zimmerman, Lori Boyd, and Sherri (Jonathan) Valliere; grandchildren, Emily & Ryan Shepherd, Brittany (TC) Heath, Kaylea & Nicki Zimmerman, Lindsey (Mitch) Plimmer, Evan Hogan, and Olivia & Boyd Valliere; and great-grandchildren, Blaire, Graham and Lilla.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, IL, with Pastor Rob James officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Please wear a splash of color in celebration of Betty's life. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
