GROVER - Betty Jane Bowers Broome, a beloved matriarch and a beacon of faith, entered into eternal rest on November 15, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on October 8, 1930, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, to the late Fred Bowers and Annis Martin Bowers, she spent her life surrounded by the warmth and love of her family and community.
A lifelong resident of Cleveland County, Betty dedicated herself to her family and faith with unwavering devotion. As the oldest member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church, she was a pillar of strength and inspiration to all who knew her. Her steadfast belief and commitment to prayer were the cornerstones of her life, and she was known as a true prayer warrior who loved the Lord deeply.
Betty had a profound love for her family. She was a cherished mother to her son, Donald Broome, Jr., and her daughter, Anne Broome Hurdt (Danny). Her legacy of love extends to her grandchildren, Angela Daves Collins (Blake), Carrie Daves Clubb (Nathan), Jerron Daves (Nicole), Jason Broome, and Sara Broome Butler, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride.
Her interests were varied and reflected her vibrant spirit. Betty was an avid reader with a keen mind for crosswords, and she enjoyed the simple pleasure of watching Hallmark movies. Her sharp wit and wisdom made her a treasured confidante and friend to many.
In addition to Betty's parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Donald "Don" Broome, Sr.; her sister, Anita Bowers; and her brother, Jack Bowers. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family that will be cherished by those who survive her.
A funeral service to honor Betty's life will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Patterson Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Waters officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the church cemetery, where she will remain forever close to the community she dearly loved.
