Betty Jo Captain, known as Jo to most was born on March 13, 1943. She left this earth on August 28, 2025, in her home in Bald Knob, Arkansas with her family all surrounding her while singing hymns and praising God for the time we had with her. She had suffered from a history of Parkinson's and dementia. We take great comfort in knowing that she was welcomed in heaven with open arms and bejeweled crowns. Words cannot do justice for the kind of woman that Betty Jo Captain was. Everyone that knew her, loved her. She truly was the kindest, most God-fearing woman that walked this earth. Once she dedicated her life to Christ, she became a very devout Christian. She led many people to Christ. Her prayers have gotten many of us out of probable bad situations. Her legacy will live on through her music and through all the people that her life has touched. Betty's life was for her family: both immediate and extended. She was full of love and faith and always put others before herself. She worked in the Bald Knob School system. She drove a school bus and assisted with special education classes (where she left her heart). The stories she would tell are priceless. She was very involved in following her children's sporting events and was the loudest one in the stands many times hollering at the referees. She spent many hours reading God's word to her Sunday school students and her grandchildren. She always took time from her day to talk to God and share him with others. Many people thought that she was timid and weak, but she was the strongest woman on earth. She portrayed herself that way because she was humble and kind and walked closely with the Lord. Her footsteps are hard to walk in, but she definitely left us with a great example and footprints to follow. Betty Jo Jones Captain was born in Bald Knob, Arkansas not far from where she raised her family. She was the daughter of Andy Washington and Myrtle Erma Davidson Jones. She was 1 of 8 children and preceded in death by four of her siblings. She was married to Thomas Harold Captain for 60 years. She raised three daughters: Laura Jo Pelley (Scott, Cheryl Lee Wallace (Paul), and Cynthia Gail Glass (David). Her 3 daughters begat her ten grandchildren, who called her Nanny: Madison Jo Dey (Peyton), Morgan Kay Prock (Parker), Megan Elizabeth Pelley, Noah Scott Thomas Pelley, Kevin Andrew Wallace (Savanna) Jessica Lee Brown (Stephen), Aubrey Faith Wallace, Stephanie Danielle Wallace, Preston Garrett Clark (Deanna), Kendall Wade Clark (Lauren). Her grandchildren begat 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob, Arkansas on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be at 1:00pm-2:00pm. Interment will follow services at Shady Grove Cemetery in Bald Knob, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to donate to one of her favorite causes, you may donate to Pastor Booc, a Filipino missionary, by sending a check to Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Booc in the memo. Address for church is 492 Lone Star Rd Bald Knob, AR 72010.
