Betty C. (Spence) Cassatt, 84, of Gettysburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg. She was the loving wife of Gary L. Cassatt, Sr.; together they shared 66 years of marriage.
Born August 20, 1939, in Gettysburg, she was a daughter of the late Melvin Spence and the late Helen E. (Foulk) Huff.
Betty's life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and kindness. Betty found solace and strength in her faith, attending El Shaddai Congregation, and dedicating much of her time to her volunteer work there. Her hobbies, including thrift store visits and knitting, were simple yet profound expressions of her love for life and her community.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her son, Gary L. Cassatt, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Shippensburg; two grandchildren, Nathan Cassatt of Chambersburg, Marissa Gladfelter of Shippensburg; four great grandchildren, Aurora Gladfelter, Silas Gladfelter, Lyra Cassatt, and Luca Cassatt all of Chambersburg. Mrs. Cassatt is also survived by may loving extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a step grandson, Bradley Miller.
A service to celebrate the life of Betty C. (Spence) Cassatt will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the Peters Funeral Home, 321 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Pastor Todd R. Westphal officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
