Betty Cesan Obituary
Betty Anne Cesan, 93 passed away peacefully at her home in Agawam June 13, 2025 with her son Paul and daughter in law Tammy by her side. Raised in Andover MA by her father Reverend Frank E Dunn and her mother Winifred E Connolly. She moved to Agawam with her family in her teens where she met her one and only true love John S. Cesan. They married and moved to a farm in Feeding Hills and raised four children Anne, Camille, Tim, and Paul. She will be missed by five grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well several nieces and nephews.
She was always a hard worker; planting, weeding, picking, cooking, canning, freezing, blanching, baking, cleaning and occasionally helping to chase a loose cow or pig. But no matter what her day brought you always knew there was an amazing home cooked meal on the table along with a dessert for her family to enjoy.
On top of all that she was also a cornerstone in the founding of Valley Community Church in Feeding Hills (the Church on the Hill). She worked as a teacher for years at the daycare center along with her good friend Anne Fish. One of her favorite students, believe it or not, was Melora Hardin who went on to Hollywood fame. She worked church suppers with Anne Fish and Shirley Taylor for many years as well as worked at the tent the church had at the Big E, serving countless meals to fair goers.
A much deserved retirement awaited her at North Truro, Cape Cod where she and my dad settled at Pine Oaks, a home they built together. There they settled into retirement with a large flower garden, picking wild blueberries, drinking tea and coffee on the back patio and many many beach days. My mother stayed active as a communicant of Christian Union Church and a member of the church choir and Nautilus Club. She enjoyed drinking her wine and playing bingo with very good friend Marion Voight.
Some of her happiest times and memories were those shared with her best friend, her confidant and sister Carolyn. They shared many lunches and dinners together at the old Storrowton Tavern. Not to mention their many trips to Sanibel Island sitting there drinking their wine together just enjoying each other's company. She missed her best friend terribly and was comforted in the end that she was going to be able to see her again at the beach.
Betty Anne believed in the small things- a blooming flower, a handwritten note, the joy of a shared meal- and reminded us all to slow down and cherish what truly matters.
Though she has taken her place among the angels, Betty Anne will remain forever in our hearts. We will miss her deeply, remember her always, and honor her by living with the same compassion, grace, and joy she gave to the world everyday.
A private service will be held to honor her life, but we invite all who knew and loved her to hold her close in their hearts and remember her gentle spirit in their own way.
Rest in peace, dearest Betty Anne. your love and light will guide us always.
