Betty L. Chronister, 101, passed away November 14, 2025. Betty lived in Cuyahoga Falls and graduated from CFHS. She was a resident of Stow since 1963. During her life she raised her three daughters while working as a surgical LPN at Akron City Hospital (Summa Health System). A former member of The Chapel on Fir Hill, she faithfully served beside her husband, Perry (Associate Pastor of Visitation) at Mogadore Baptist church for 22 years, Brady Lake prior to that and multiple nursing facilities and senior apartments.
Her compassion was to serve Christ first, her family, then others. She always found a way to make everyone feel welcomed and loved.
Throughout her 90’s and up to her death she inspired many through her daily devotional posts on Face Book. Her morning started with a cup of coffee and a pastry and a few minutes of love from her cats, Koda and Junior. From there she would go to You Tube to catch up on world events, look at new recipes she could try out and listen to her favorite music. Then she would immerse herself in Bible prophecy taught by her favorite preachers.
Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Perry J. and daughter, Lynne Detrow. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Dave) Carroll and Maryanne Chronister; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her sparkling blue eyes, warm smile and Christ-centered spirit will be sorely missed. Please rejoice with us as she is absent from the body and present with her Lord and Savior. Rev 21:4-5, And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. …Behold, I will make all things new…
Visitation will be held from 5-6 PM with a funeral beginning at 6 PM on Wednesday November 19, 2025, at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Pastor Robert Seymour will be officiating. Private interment will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meir Panim.org
