Ms. Betty Ann Covin

Ms. Betty Covin, 67, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Friendship Baptist Church, 400 Pine Ave, Albany, Georgia 31701.
Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, 200 Cotton Ave, Albany, Georgia 31701.
Ms. Betty Ann Covin was born on September 15, 1957, in Leesburg, Georgia, to the late Andrew Lee Covin Sr. and Jimmie Lee Covin. She peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service.
Ms. Covin was educated in the Lee County and Dougherty School System and spent much of her professional life working in manufacturing, including at MacGregor Golf in Albany, Georgia, during the late 1970s and 1980s. She was known for her strong work ethic and her ability to connect with those around her-she truly never met a stranger.
At an early age, Betty gave her life to God and later accepted His call to serve. She was a shining example of a Proverbs 31 virtuous woman-graceful, giving, and full of strength. She found great joy in helping others, often sharing resources and lending a hand wherever she could. Betty especially cherished her time with her grandchildren. She made it a point to be present in their lives, creating lasting memories with walks through the park, spontaneous store runs, and even racing them-joyfully showing off her speed and youthful spirit. These simple, loving moments reflected the deep bond she shared with them and the joy she found in being a grandmother.
She was full of wisdom and personality, known for her signature sayings that captured her humor and strength. Whether she was reminding you to "Watch your feet, feed ya beans," declaring with love and loyalty "On my Ma!", or expressing her unwavering faith by saying, "Can't do nothing with Jesus," Betty's words left an impact. She often spoke proudly, saying, "My momma left me a woman," and in moments of teaching, she'd simply say, "That'll teach ya!" Her voice, full of meaning and memory, will echo in the hearts of those who knew her. A lover of music, Betty enjoyed all genres, but gospel music always held a special place in her heart. Her spare time was often spent in the company of family and friends, where she was undoubtedly the life of the party-full of light, laughter, and love.
Preceding her in death were her beloved son, Dexter Covin Sr., and her cherished granddaughter, Eyshua Covin. Ms. Betty Ann Covin leaves to cherish her memory her devoted common-law husband of 50 years, Mr. Harold McAfee; her loving children: Demario Covin, Lakeisha Lester (Cecil Lester), and Jennie Tift (Dontavious Tift); one sister, Mrs. Willie Lee Dorsey two brothers, Tommie Lee Hightower (Theresa Hightower) and Steve Covin(Consquela Covin) ; and her dear grandchildren: Dexter Covin Jr., Brittany Parks, Cortez Covin, D'vaughntae Woods,Jalen Bush, Nardriana Lewis, Demarley Covin, Skylar Daniel and Zykeria Covin. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends including her cherished Nikki's Cassadine Ladies Salon Group.
Betty's light, laughter, and love will forever be remembered by those who had the honor of knowing her.
