Betty Rae Deplanty

ROCKVILLE-Betty Rae Deplanty, 95, of Rockville, Indiana passed away, Monday, December 23, 2024, at Clinton Gardens. She was a retired teacher's aide at Rockville Elementary School with 23 years of service. She was born July 1, 1929, in Mecca, Indiana to the late Stanley Walters and Dorothy Myers Walters. Her husband of 43 years, Charles Deplanty whom she married February 4, 1948, preceded her in death December 17, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Debbie) Deplanty of Rockville and Delbert (Linda) Deplanty of Crawfordsville; one daughter, Janet Yowell of Clinton; six grandchildren, Billie Sue (Dan) Howk, April Jean (Chad) Smith, Lindsey (Billy) Wright, Aaron Yowell, Daniel (Hannah) Deplanty, and Michelle (Brendan) Paddack; 11 great-grandchildren; special friends, Charlie and Donna Woodard and Lyndall Bradfield. She was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell (Kathryn) Walters.
She was a 1947 graduate of Mecca High School. She was a member of the Rockville Christian Church and the Friendship Sunday school class. She loved to travel and sew and enjoyed going to plays and musicals.
Services will be 3 pm Monday, December 30, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Fred Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Visitation is 1-3 pm Monday at Gooch Funeral Home.
