Betty Jane Effler, age 88, of 806 Lower Higgins Creek Road, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024. A lifelong resident of Unicoi County, Betty was born on January 19, 1936, to Josie and Robert Randolph. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother whose love for her family will never be forgotten.Bettys life was marked by deep love for the Lord and her family. She believed in the power of love, kindness, and hospitality. She had a natural gift for music, and her ability to pick up any instrument and play, despite never having formal lessons, was something her family and friends adored. Mamaw, as her family knew her, also had a wonderful sense of humor and was just plain fun! Music and laughter were but two of the many ways she expressed the joy she found in life, and it filled her home with warmth and comfort. Betty was a beautiful soul, both inside and out. Betty was preceded in death by her adoring husband of nearly 60 years, Donald Effler; her two oldest children, Glenda McCray and David Effler; siblings Cora Tolley, Trula Hall, Mary Lee Wilson, Olan Randolph, and Earl Randolph; son-in-law Keith Knowlton; grandsons, Mike Clouse and Jimmy Effler; and many loved brothers- and sisters-in-law.She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Judy Tipton (Roger), Kathy Alford (Rob), and Karen "Susie" Knowlton; sister-in-law Nadine Moore; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Bettys family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest joy in being surrounded by them. Betty retired after 38 years of service with Industrial Garment. She was also famous for her country cooking, particularly her amazing cathead biscuits. Betty's hospitality was unmatched. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved, and she never met a stranger. Her home was a place where laughter, love, and good food were always in abundance. Judy, Kathy and Susie would like to thank Gentiva Hospice Services for their support. Special thanks to Nurse Kimberly Brown for the gentle loving care she gave to Mamaw and the kindness she extended to Bettys daughters as well.
