Betty Ferrenburg, 86, of Roby, Missouri, gently passed into Eternal Rest on October 12, 2025.
Born on December 26, 1938, in Glasgow, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of Mary Kathleen (Skaggs) Hurt and John Thomas Hurt. Betty was a devoted wife to her husband, Walter Ferrenburg, and a loving mother to her daughter, Cynthia Kaye Rivers and her son, Ronald Eugene Ferrenburg.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband and caregiver, Walter Ferrenburg, cherished daughter, Cynthia Rivers, and son-in-law, Gary Rivers; her grandchildren, Kevin Grice and Earl Grice (wife Sara Threlkeld); and her great-grandchildren, Evan Grice and Braxton Threlkeld. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son and her siblings: John T. Hurt Jr., Joette Moss, and James Hurt.
Walter and Betty married in February of 1959. As a devoted Army wife, Betty embraced the adventure of life and raising her children around the country and world, including Alaska, France, Germany, Missouri, and making lasting memories wherever she went. After settling back in Columbus, Indiana, Betty served as a city bus driver for 17 years where her commitment and generous spirit shone brightly. She was known for her kindness, even to the point of giving a brand-new coat off her back to someone in need.
A gifted quilter and seamstress, Betty poured her heart into creating beautiful works of art that will be cherished by her family for generations. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for family and friends will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Betty was a woman of strong faith, Betty found comfort in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and in the church community at Roby Baptist. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25th, 2025, at Roby Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roby Baptist Church, Roby, MO.
