Elizabeth "Betty" Fitzko, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct 2nd 2025 at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak. She was born in Flint, Michigan on November 14, 1933, the daughter of Pearl and George Nagy. Betty worked at Citizens Bank in Flint and was a homemaker. She married Ronald Fitzko on July 20, 1963 at All Saints Catholic Church of Flint.
Betty's world revolved around her family; her greatest joy was raising her daughters, Suzanne and Kathy, as well as watching her granddaughters, Ally, Emma, and Kate grow up. She resided in Davison, Michigan for almost 50 years, spending the last two years at Royal Oak House Assisted Living in Royal Oak.
Betty's life was firmly rooted in the Catholic Christian faith: she was a member of St John's Catholic church in Davison. Later in life, when homebound, she was devout in her daily rosary service and televised mass. Traveling was one of Betty's interests, including trips to Acapulco and New York, and once married excursions Up North (Traverse City Cherry Festival was a favorite) with a trip to Canada (Toronto and Sarnia). Her hobbies included sewing, baking, reading, and journaling, and in her earlier years dancing. The Hungarian Festivals were a favorite event of hers. She also appreciated antiques and loved a good thrift sale! She was the keeper of family heirlooms and had a large collection of her memorabilia from her past. Betty had a huge heart and supported various charities, especially those related to children.
For the past two years, while at Royal Oak Assisted Living, she participated in many activities, crafts, and flower arranging, but her greatest joy came from time spent with all her family and friends that visited her.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (James) Cox of Walled Lake, and Kathleeen (Stephen) Pollock of Berkley; granddaughters, Allison, Emma, and Kate Pollock; her brother, George Nagy of Scottsdale, AZ; and sister, Juliann Mills of Davison. She is preceded in death by loving husband of 46 years, Ronald Joseph Fitzko (2009); her parents; sister, Mary Porter; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Nagy.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 2:00 PM until the time of funeral service 6:00 PM at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, 2125 12 Mile Road, Berkley (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue). Betty will be privately interred at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint.
