Surrounded by her loved ones, Betty Roxanne Johnson, age 69, passed from her earthly life into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2024, in a San Antonio hospital following a short illness.

Roxanne was born April 5, 1955, in Beeville, Texas to Frederic Andrew and Evelyn Frances (Hines) Johnson. Roxanne graduated from George West High School in 1972 and moved to Houston to work for less than a year. The city life wasn’t for her, so she moved back to live where she’d been raised in rural Live Oak County. There she lived the simple country life in the small-town George West area where she raised her 2 sons, Gregory Lloyd Snider and Erik Andrew Snider.

After raising her children and then divorcing, Roxanne worked as receptionist at the local doctor’s office. When it closed, she worked at a local title company before taking a job at the district clerk’s office where she worked until her retirement.

Roxanne is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents as well as numerous aunts and uncles. Surviving her are her parents, 2 sons; 3 sisters, Cathy Lee Riser, Edie Ruth (Joe) Hancock, Angela Sue (Reid) Holleman; and 1 brother, John William (Tina) Johnson. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Emily (Mike Mangan) Riser and daughter Lainey Mangan; Andrew Hancock; Matthew (Morgan) Hancock and their girls Ellie & Quinn; Jordan (Kali) Johnson and their twins Turner & Saylor; Mallory Johnson; Samanda Holleman (Colin) Kalinowski and their girls Carsyn and Kendall; Reese (Kate) Holleman and their daughter Hallie.

Being a close-knit family, Roxanne and siblings shared close friends (extra family) too, and she always enjoyed bar-b-q gatherings, fish fries or football parties that she was invited to often. When great-nieces and a great-nephew arrived, she’d spend time visiting and playing with them whenever possible.

Roxanne had a gentle nature and sweet, loving spirit. Her great-nephew and great-nieces all adored Aunt Roxy. She treated them like she was their grandmother and always brought some little gift whenever she visited any one of them. She would take time to play with them, sit and read to them, take walks with them and praise their every accomplishment. So, they always looked forward to seeing her and receiving her special love and attention. She will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Brush Country Cowboy Church followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM. Burial will then follow in George West Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Johnson, Reese Holleman, Andrew Hancock, Matthew Hancock, Colin Kalinowski, and Jody Hines.
