Betty J. Kincheloe (79) of Lee’s Summit passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family.  Betty was born on September 24, 1944 in Lebanon, Missouri to Paris and Mary (Burney) Crisp.  Betty met her future husband Don Kincheloe while still in high school and they were married on a rainy April Saturday in 1964.  Betty always said that the rain brought them good luck.  Shortly after they were married, they moved to the Kansas City area to start their lives together.  Betty began working as an administrative assistant only to learn that their family was about to expand.  Daughter, Melissa, was born in 1965 followed by their son, Christian, who arrived in 1968.  As their family grew so did Betty’s determination. While continuing to work full-time and care for her growing brood, she also began taking courses at Penn Valley Community College at nights.  She spent many nights up late studying while listening to classical music once the kids were in bed.  As the kids grew, so did Betty’s accomplishments.  She graduated with her associate degree and went on to become a licensed realtor in the Kansas City Metropolitan area.  Over the thirty plus years of her career, she received countless awards and recognitions for top performance in her field of residential and new construction sales.   Betty was fair and honest and a strong advocate for those she represented during negotiations.  Betty also had a passion for design and art.  Betty and Don traveled and visited many cities and countries throughout Europe but the one that impacted Betty the most was her trip to Jerusalem.  Betty often relied on her faith as a source of strength throughout her life.  While Betty was an incredibly hard worker, she was very generous with her clients, family, and especially her five grandchildren:   Michaela Olthoff, Garrett Kincheloe, Noah Olthoff, Dillon Kincheloe and Luke Olthoff.  It has been said that Nana didn’t know how to tell them “no.” Over the years the family has continued to grow with the addition of Mark Olthoff (son-in-law), Rebecca Kincheloe (granddaughter-in-law), Brooklin Kincheloe (granddaughter-in-law) and Staci Tackett (future daughter-in-law).  Betty remained close to her younger brother, Larry Crisp and his wife Jennifer. Betty also has two younger half-siblings Michael Jennings and Tabatha (Jennings) Jolly.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Paris Crisp and Mary (Burney) Jennings; her sister, Beverly Friend; her brother, Ronald Crisp; her brother, Lonnie “Jackie” Crisp; and a granddaughter, Ashley Olthoff.
