Mrs. Betty Long Obituary Mrs. Betty Baker Long, aka, Cheerio, was born October 15, 1949 in Bryan County, Ga. She was the third of six children born to the late Artis and Mary Baker, who preceded her in death. Three siblings also preceded her in death. She was united in holy matrimony to Howard Heuy Long on July 15, 1995. She gave her life to Jesus Christ at an early age and rededicate it as she became older. She attended Boyds Temple in Ellabell, Ga at a young age under the leadership of Elder Eugene Boyd and Deacon C.C.Singleton (now Bishop). She moved to NY after graduating from Pembroke High School. She later moved to Smyrna, GA where she remained until her death. While in Smyrna, she attended Mt. Paran Church and gave a helping hand to as many as God brought across her path.
Mrs. Betty was a true giver of love! She went to Job Corp and later became employed at Southern Bell (now AT&T), where she retired after 30+ years. She later became security guard at Andy Fain Services where she worked until her health began to fail. She was known for her love for people and giving heart, which reached out to everyone around her. She had a love for shopping and baking and charm with a great sense of humor. Her favorite song was "Goodness of God" sung by C.C. Winans. She departed this life to go live with Jesus on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her loving husband, Howard (HB), two sisters, Marie Yvonne Hicks (James) of Fayetteville, GA; Juanita Baker Heard of Jacksonville, FL; one sister- in-law, Dorothy Baker of Far Rockaway, NY; Three step children: Howard Long III of Atlanta, GA; Keedra Bond (Charles) of VA and Priscilla Sheppard (Josh) of Atlanta, GA; 10 step grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild; one goddaughter, Vanessa Wilcoxson, aka Pepper; a large host of nieces and nephews; neighbors and friends.
