Smith Family Funeral Homes - Little RockStewart Wayne Long was born on March 30, 1928, in Corinth, MS, and passed away
on October 6, 2025, in Katy, TX, at the age of 97. He was proceeded in death by his father,
John Stewart Long, and his mother, Thelma Evelene Logue, and his eldest son, Donald
Wayne Long. He was also preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Mary Elizebeth
“Lib” Smith.
He is survived by three sons, Richard Long (wife Karen) of Fulshear, TX, David Long of
Memphis, TN, and Robert Long of Mount Laurel, NJ; three grandchildren, William Long
(wife Valerie) of Eagle River, AK, Andrew Long (wife Teri) of Montgomery, AL, and
Cristina Long Aguilera (husband Oscar) of Santiago, Chile; and eight great
grandchildren, Norah and Owen Long of Eagle River, AK, Skyler, Braxton, Emi and
Sage Long of Montgomery, AL, and Dominique and Lucas Figueroa Long of Santiago,
Chile; and daughter-in-law Ximena Agilera de Long of Santiago, Chile.
Stewart worked for Kroger Foods throughout his adult life in many different roles from a
butcher in Corinth, MS to VP of the Little Rock Division in North Little Rock, AR. He
worked throughout Northern MS; in the office in Memphis, TN; in Kroger’s home office
in Cincinnati, OH; and finally, the Little Rock Division office in North Little Rock, AR.
He was involved in numerous community activities in the Little Rock area during the 40
years that he lived there with a particular interest in the Rotary Club of North Little Rock
and the Rotary Club of West Little Rock.
In his spare time, he enjoyed ham radio operations and genealogical research, he loved
fishing, particularly at the Old River Fishing Club, but most of all he loved train travel
with his wife, Lib.
A graveside service will take place at 12 noon on Monday, October 13, 2025, at
Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, AR, where he will be buried alongside his wife, Lib.
The service will be conducted by one of his grandsons, Andrew Long.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Vale Children’s Home in Corinth, MS
or St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN in Stewart’s honor.
