Betty Jo Long, age 68, passed away November 16, 2025. Born in Cleveland, Tennessee, February 7, 1957, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth, humor, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her.
Betty was retired from Flowers Bakery, where she worked faithfully for many years and served as a supervisor. She took great pride in her work and was admired by coworkers for her dedication and leadership.
She had a deep love for animals, especially her two beloved dogs, Reese and Tamika. Whether taking a peaceful drive to the mountains or enjoying the sun and sand at the beach, Betty cherished the simple joys of life and found beauty wherever she went.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Long; her children, Loretta Watts (Farrell) and Tony Byers (Cayci); her grandchildren, Alicia Watts, Zackery (Zack) Dominic, Chasity Watts, and Taylor Mullinax (Ethan); and her great-grandchildren, Anthony Jellies, Aiden Matthew, Terry Edward, Temperance Raine, and Elizabell (Bell) Annette. She is also survived by her sisters, Lucille Gibson (Gary), Linda Goins (Gary), and Vickie Patterson (Bryan), as well as her brother, Danny Young, along with several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Also, Sisters-in-Law, Etta Mae Wilson and Andra Cabrera, as well as Brother-in-Law, Lebron Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William O. Young and Ruby Lee Young; her brother, William Young Jr.; her sister, Judy Millsap; and her sister-in-law, Kathy Young.
Betty's family and friends will forever remember her gentle heart, her laughter, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. Her legacy of love endures in all those she leaves behind.
The family will welcome friends Monday, November 24. 2025, 4:00-7:00 pm at Companion Funeral Home, Ridge Chapel. Funeral services will follow November 25, 2025, at 1:00 pm, also at Companion Ridge Chapel with Rev. Darren Fansler officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Tony Byers, Farrell Watts, Zackery Dominic, Gary Gibson, Tim Gibson, and Mark Gibson.
