Betty Jean Martin was born on July 23, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Carroll Martin and Pearl Danforth.
Betty Jean attended Indianapolis Public School #26 and Crispus Attucks High School. Betty Jean was employed by Fort Benjamin Harrison for 15 years. She was also employed by L.S. Ayers, Macy's, and the City County Building before she retired.
Betty Jean confessed her love for Christ early in life and was a member of Christ Missionary Baptist Church where she loved to be in attendance.
Betty Jean was lovingly known for her beautiful smile, friendliness, and jazzy personality, she never met a stranger. Betty loved to cook, dance, and sit in the hallway of her apartment building greeting people as they walked by. Betty also enjoyed going to the casino with family and friends. Most of all Betty loved spending time with her family. She called her sister Joann everyday just to chat.
Betty Jean gained her wings on April 25, 2023 at the age of eighty-five years, nine months, and two days. Betty was preceded in death by both of her parents, eleven of her sibling, her grandson, Donald Cantrell, Jr. and her great-grandson, Donald Cantrell, III.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Judy Martin; granddaughter, Dawn Cantrell; sister Joann Mimms (Mose); great-grandchildren, Drianna, Da'Jaymeon, Da'Jaymia, Nylah, Shayvonna, Cheyenne, Darionm, Dallas, and Ethan' great-greatgrandchildren, Darien, Dwan, London, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
