Betty June Metheney
Betty June Metheney passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family March28, 2023. Betty was born June 28, 1937 to the late Brady Sr. and Bernice Hooper Lamp. She was 1954 graduate of St. Marys High School. On October 23, 1954, Betty married the late Carroll Lee Metheney. Together, they raised seven amazing children. Betty loved sewing, crocheting, auctions, canning everything from her garden. She taught all of us to make and pull taffy and piece quilts. Her favorite thing was sitting on her porch watching children run and play. Her family was everything to her. She worked as a Pleasants County Accessor, field agent, later she worked at Carehaven as cook.
She is survived by her children, Margie (Mark) Mayfield, Debbie (Dwaine) Barnes, Mark (Debby) Metheney, Kathy Mossor (Ron Bayles), Karen Metheney, and Mary (Teddy) Taylor; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren with number 31 due to arrive in July; the first great-great-grandchild due to arrive in July; several bonus great & great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Ann Carpenter, and Pat Nichols; and brother, Jim Lamp. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carroll, their son, Robert Lee, her sister, Virginia Wallace, and a brother, Brady Lamp, Jr.
As per Betty's wishes services and visitation will be private to family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the AMVETS post 40, 71 Mayfield Lane, St. Marys, WV 26170. Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV is assisting the family with the arrangements. An online guest register is available at www.ingramfh.com.
