Betty J Schroeder, daughter of the late Harry and Adah (Smith) Ellis, was born May 7th, 1930 in Celina, Ohio where she attended school. She was the 3rd youngest of 10 children whom 7 celebrated golden anniversaries. Betty worked in the kitchen of the St. John's Church for 60 years and was on the Board of Trustees several years. She was the co-author of the Ellis/Schroeder Family Genealogy books. Her greatest joy in life was loving the Lord, her family and her church. She saw 14 pastors and many beautiful people come and go in her sixty years at St. John's. On Monday, December 2nd, 2024, at the age of 94, Betty left us to receive the miracle of Eternal Life which the Lord promised to us all, surrounded by her loving family. Her late husband Norman passed away on March 16th, 2011 and was waiting for her.
Betty came to Michigan in 1940's and she met Norman Schroeder and they were married October 15th, 1950. They came to Midland in 1951 and celebrated 61 loving years of marriage having two children who survived her, Norma (Richard- deceased) Bellows and Steven (Sally) Schroeder, also surviving is one sister Marge Poor. Grandchildren; Matthew (Michelle) Schroeder, Melissa Schroeder, Kyle (Jamie) Schroeder, Jodee Russell, Sarah (Jeremy) Thompson, Joshua (Andrea) Bick. Sam (Lori) Bick. Great grandchildren; Caleb, Ameleigha, Kinleigh Jo, Austin, Dallas, Collin, Kendall, Alivia, Emma, Maximus, Brady, Leah. Adelyn. Bonus grandchildren and great grandkids; Bart, Brian, Megan, Nicholas, Haley and Jozlynn.
Funeral services for Betty will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024, at St. John's Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, December 8th, at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, and again at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Midland City Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. John's Lutheran Church.
