James Ray "Jim" Secord

James R. Secord, born March 17,1946, passed over peacefully in his home on Monday, December 22, 2025. James was born in Columbiaville, Michigan to the late Herold and Ada Secord. After graduating from Spring Arbor College with his teaching degree, Jim was drafted and served his country as a nuclear weapons specialist in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he moved back to the states and began his teaching career at Juniata Christian School in Vassar, Michigan. In 1978, he moved to Saginaw, Michigan to help start Bridgeport Baptist Academy, where he continued to teach until his retirement in 2009. Jim's life was spent serving God and loving people, especially his 'Kids' which is how he lovingly referred to all his students.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda (Kinsel) Secord; his children, James (Terri) Secord and Tamra (Jeff) Hamman; his grandchildren, Dakota (Natalie) Hamman, Wesley Hamman, and Darcy Hamman; his great granddaughter, Anastasia Hamman. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Mary) Secord; his brother-in-law, Richard (Susan) Kinsel; sister-in-law, Ilene (Clyde) Brainard, as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and family. All will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herold and Ada; his daughter-in-law, Kay Secord; and many other family members.

Viewing will be held Friday, December 26, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home 504 N. Michigan Ave. Saginaw, Michigan 48602. Visitation will continue on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Midland Baptist Church, 5009 Jefferson Ave., Midland, Michigan 48640, where Jim has been an active member. Pastor Jim Payne will officiate.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a lunch following the service. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Columbiaville, Michigan. Jim was welcomed into Heaven with a "Well done thou good and faithful servant." Okay, Sport's fans, take out a half sheet of paper and number 1-10. That's how it always started and that is how it should end.
